  1. Absolutely brilliant! You see the reason you can be judge of slams and arbiter of big Overland blogs, Maxine is because time and again you put the proof on the table in an unarguable way, proof of your point but also proof of your incredible gift. By the way, I am reading 'Soul On Ice' Eldridge Cleaver again for fun.

  3. Thanks Paul. Soul on Ice! Was talking the other day bout how some of the best essay writing has come out of prison. I haven't read that book for ages. Have you ever read Soledad Brother?

Lorraine: Lady Maxine? I both love and hate the sound of that (chuckle).

  4. Oh oh, Maxine, I found a fantastic video clip of "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised." It is in my twitter which is fun for throwing linkages around. I will keep an eye out for Soledad Brother.

  5. It's one of those things isn't it, like Bobby Mcferrin and his Don't worry, be Happy song. People made up a story about him killing himself. Heron had to take the weight of a revolution that didn't happen, televised or otherwise. I do love the way you bring out this sharp double-edged sword.

  6. Paul - that clip ROCKS! Can sen dyou my copy of Soledad if you want, long as you take ggod care of it. If you don't, it will pull out it's gun.

Alec - thanks. And what a weight a failed revolution is to carry. The weight of a failed future, really.

  7. No such thing as a failed revolution, it is a constant ongoing process.

  8. Too wise Paul. Failed revolution effort? No, that would also be incorrect. I guess we attach revolution to end result sometimes, rather than looking at what has been accomplished, which in Gil's case is enormous. Word is he has an album heading for 2010.
